2025 Ford Explorer Trims & Configurations
The 2025 Ford Explorer is a modern three-row SUV offering a high-quality, family-friendly design, everyday functionality and a host of new features for the new model year. The new Ford Explorer has four available trim levels to choose from, including Active, ST-Line, ST and Platinum, and the SUV gets two high-powered engine options with the choice of rear- or all-wheel drive, and all models now come standard with the Class III Trailer Tow Package.
As a 7-seat SUV, the 2025 Ford Explorer offers a redesigned dashboard, new soft-touch materials and new color schemes across the lineup of trims for an elevated experience. The 2025 Ford Explorer’s base Active trim comes with all the must-have features, including newly standard tech, updated performance specs and standard Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+. Active gets the base turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine rated for 300 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque with a 10-speed automatic transmission. New for 2025, all Ford Explorer models come standard with the Class III Trailer Tow Package, which gives Active the capability to tow up to 5,000 pounds with ease.
For 2025, the Ford Explorer Active now gets a standard 13.2-inch LCD touchscreen infotainment system along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Offered for the first time ever in a Ford vehicle, the Ford Digital Experience is a new standard software system designed to easily integrate your favorite apps from Google and Amazon. 2025 Ford Explorer ST-Line
The 2025 Ford Explorer’s ST-Line model comes equipped with the base 300-hp turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission. ST-Line gets an available Street Package, available Premium Package and standard Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0, which includes driver assist tech like Evasive Steering Assist, Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert and Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Speed Sign Recognition, Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering.
The 2025 Ford Explorer ST-Line offers Ford BlueCruise, which uses existing technologies like Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering Assist to help reduce the stress of driving. It works by allowing drivers to experience hands-free highway driving on 97% of controlled access highways in the U.S. and Canada. Additionally, ST-Line features an Onyx interior with ActiveX™ seating material with cloth inserts and distinctive red stitching.

2025 Ford Explorer ST
The 2025 Ford Explorer’s sporty ST model is powered by the twin-turbo 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine rated for up to 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque with a 10-speed automatic transmission. ST has paddle shifters as well as high-performance brakes, while a responsive sport-tuned suspension is added for a spirited performance and a more engaging driving experience overall. Also included on ST is standard Ford BlueCruise for hands-free highway driving.
For 2025, the Ford Explorer ST offers a few cabin enhancements as well, such as a flat-bottom ST steering wheel, heated second-row seats and a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen Sound System, and ST’s exclusive interior features Onyx ActiveX™ seating material with Miko inserts, stitching and ST logo. Plus, ST can be had with an available black painted roof and available twin panel moonroof.

The 2025 Ford Explorer’s Platinum is the top-of-the-line model offering more standard tech, intuitive driver assist systems and an elevated design. The new Ford Explorer’s Platinum model gets the standard Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 safety suite, and it is equipped with Ford BlueCruise for hands-free highway driving to give you more peace of mind.
The 2025 Ford Explorer Platinum gets an impressive 980-watt B&O Sound System by Bang & Olufsen with 14 speakers, including a subwoofer, as well as heated and ventilated front seats. As the top-spec trim, Platinum offers a Mojave Dusk interior with leather seating surfaces with Miko micro-perforated inserts, while a Salt Crystal Gray interior featuring leather seating surfaces with tri-diamond micro-perforated inserts is offered when adding the Lux Leather Package and 20-inch polished aluminum wheels.
