Understanding the parts of your vehicle can be helpful in the event of an accident or breakdown. Here at Heritage Ford, we strive to share information with our Corydon, IN customers. If you get a flat tire, we think it's important to understand the difference between a compact temporary and full-size spare tire.

A full-size spare is simple to use because it's just like your regular tires. You can drive on it normally if you are sure to put it in your tire rotation. A disadvantage of this type is that it can be large and heavy to carry around in the back of your vehicle.

A less intrusive version is the compact temporary spare. You've probably also heard it called a donut. These tires take up less space, but they aren't safe to drive on at fast speeds or for long distances. Try to stay below 55 miles per hour and get the tire changed as soon as you're able.
