All around the country, from Atlanta, to Dallas, to Milwaukee, and even Indianapolis, Escape the Room games have been popping up.
What is it?
It's a simple, yet catchy idea. Players are locked inside of a room. There are objects in the room with them, which change based on the theme. Some may be set up to look like an ordinary living room, while some may reflect a post-apocalyptic future, or a sci-fi world. The players must interact with the environment to uncover clues and solve puzzles and riddles that will lead to the way out.
Ford Motor Company teamed up with the I LOVE NEW YORK campaign and Escape the Room NYC creator Victor Blake to create the very first drivable Escape the Room game -- using a new Ford Escape.
"Ford asked if I'd be up for integrating the new Escape into an Escape the Room game, and the end result is unlike anything I've created before," Blake said. "The SUV is packed with tons of advanced technology, and it was an entertaining exercise to integrate things like ultrasonic parking sensors into the puzzles and clues that are iconic to the game."
One of the puzzles involved parking between two cars hands-free, using the Escape's enhanced active park assist feature. Others would include the foot-activated liftgate, and the voice-to-text capability of SYNC 3.
